With the Easter behind us, Dili and Nic catch each other up on a weekend of family dinners, spicy cakes, and whirlwind trips to the UK. We chat about Easter gifts, spoiled kids, and lethal leftovers. We ask why Germans are avoiding the UK, and we tackle the issue of why Germany seems so backward when it comes to the topic of abortion.
Fire the confetti cannons, producer Simon’s back! We celebrate by demanding he gives us some gifts….well Nic does at least. After last week’s foray into the forests, we return to the wilds for a wolf related update, there's a follow up on the Berlin election, a discussion on the merits of the current climate protest movement, and we finish on the proposals to make English Germany’s 2nd language.
The lads have been doing a bit of travelling around Germany this week. While Nic stuck to the safety of Bavaria, Simon went further afield, and on the way spotted some fellow Brits who’ve managed to avoid the traffic and make it to Germany. We talk about a recent funeral held in a forest and why that might be the most German of send offs, and we go over the recent travel chaos at various airports that’s certainly not the expected level of German organisation.
Nic has a strange experience while helping someone move house. While he kicks himself for not taking the opportunity to make more jokes about it at the time, Simon’s been playing the new internet sensation Wordle, even going as far as to try it in German! We talk about taking the opportunity to travel, discuss public holidays in the UK and Germany, why masks might make you more attractive and we finish on a the first recorded image of UFOs coming from Simon’s home town of Nürnberg.
Simon kicks-off the show celebrating Jürgen Klinsmann’s birthday and we talk about how Germans see Britain. We’re focusing on our adopted home this week, the mighty Freistaat Bayern. We talk the many differences between the 16 German states and why Bavaria could be compared to the English county of Yorkshire. We finish the show with a quick look at some of the best cities to visit in Bavaria.
